To use Sirius7’s products to their full potential we are able to offer customers on-site or off-site training for all of our desktop mapping packages.
Training sessions are designed for up to four trainees (there is an additional price per person per day for additional trainees). We try to make the training days as informal as possible and encourage the trainees to ask questions. Time permitting, we can also focus on other areas of local interest.
The trainer will set up the training machines prior to the commencement of the training. We recommend that each trainee has a machine of their own to work on. However, we realise that this is not always possible. At the very most we recommend that there be a maximum of two trainees to one machine. We have found, through experience, that trainees grasp the concepts of the software much more quickly if they can use the software (on the day) using their own data.
The installation process includes the software, your own datasets, relevant geographical boundaries, Ordnance Survey raster maps and other datasets that have been purchased. We also require the availability of Microsoft Office 2000, XP or Office 97 on each machine. We may require your IT personnel to provide administrator priviledges to the training machines in order to complete the installation.
Trainees are provided with a set of training notes, on which the training day(s) are based. The trainees are prompted through the exercises by the Sirius7 trainer.
When the training has been completed, the trainer will set up the software and the data on the user's own machine(s), if not already done.
Sirius7 offer a number of different training solutions to fit specific software packages, datasets and needs. For more information on each of the below, click on the respective link.
The Profiler training session is run over one day (more training days can be purchased) with the aim being that at the end of the training session the trainees will be equipped to analyse their own data.
The course enables the trainees to map learner data and to look at trends and change patterns that emerge from the analysis of this data.
We normally begin the training at 10.00am and finish at 4.30pm with a break for lunch. To see a copy of the Profiler training schedule, please click here.
We think it is important to train customers using their own data. Therefore, prior to the training we will request that you provide data files for, at least, the past two academic years.

Because of the volume of data used in the Crime arena, training for Crime and Community Profiler is run over two days with the aim being that at the end of the training session the trainees will be equipped to analyse crime and disorder data. To see a copy of the Crime and Community Profiler training schedule, please click here.
The course enables the trainees to map crime and disorder data and to look at trends and change patterns that emerge from the analysis of this data. Trainees will also be able to identify crime hotspots.
Prior to the training, a request will be made to the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP) or relevant body for Ordnance Survey raster maps and relevant datasets (Crime, Incidents, Fire, Probation, etc). Sirius7 will provide the necessary geographical boundaries and ONS 2001 Census datasets as requested.
Prior to the commencement of the training, the Sirius7 trainer will populate the training machines with the software, the crime and disorder datasets, relevant geographical boundaries, Ordnance Survey raster maps and any other datasets that have been purchased.

The Market Profiler training session is run over one day (more training days can be purchased) with the aim being that at the end of the training session the trainees will be equipped to analyse their own data.
The course enables the customer to map customer/sales datasets and to look at trends and change patterns that emerge from the analysis of this data. The course also enables the trainees to use the software to help identify potential/new markets as well as identifying new angles within existing markets.
We normally begin the training at 10.00am and finish at 4.30pm with a break for lunch. To see a copy of the Profiler training schedule, please click here.
We think it is important to train customers using their own data. Therefore, prior to the training we will request that you provide data files for at least the past two financial years.

In 2004, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) released the Indices of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) dataset. The dataset is an assessment of deprivation levels for England and Wales (for more information on the IMD 2004, please click here.
Sirius7 was one of the first companies to start providing its customers with the 2004 IMD data. However, we soon realised that just providing the dataset and the Super Output Area (SOA) boundaries was not enough. We decided that we must offer more in order for our customers to fully benefit from the new dataset and boundaries. With this in mind we developed a bespoke training day for the 2004 IMD data.
The IMD training day covers the use of the IMD data, the new government boundaries (SOAs) that come with it and the meaning of the mapped results and is not software specific. The IMD dataset and SOA boundaries are incorporated into the cost of the training day, making it cost effective.

As well as offering standard training sessions, Sirius7 can also offer bespoke training sessions designed around specific needs. Whether this is a particular project or a more focused look at certain features of the respective software package, we can help you design a training session specifically for your needs.
